Stock, it does a 1/4 mile in around 18.5-19 seconds.

Slower than most mini-vans.

Top speed, is somewhere around 110-120. Depending on how much road you have, since it will take a while to get there.

For an equal comparison, my SUV is capable of the same.

All in all, it is a slow car. Even the turbo model managed a measly 17 second 1/4 mile, which puts it in the mid range of sedans or station wagons.

l have one:
They go 125 miles per hour. Around 1979 they produced 115 horsepower, which was pretty good at the time (it was classified as a mid-rang sports car). It was produced close to Stuttgart by Audi in Neckarsulm. '79s had standard five speed transmission & optional Automatic. Also had Anti Roll bars. They have a two liter (1984 cc) overhead cam with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection. Front disc brakes, rear drums.
They handle amazingly well, with little to no body lean & grip the road like u would not believe. The ride is notoriously rough & noisy.
l am not sure when, but they eventually changed the fuel injection system from mechanical to electronic, & l think it is the 1979 year. You want to get one with electronic injection because, l have mechanical, & there were so many vaccume hoses & wires u cannot believe.
Things to watch for:
1) Worn Cam (listen for a ticking noise)
2) Rusty Battery box (If the battery box has rust holes, then water is going to drip right into the interior which will need to be fixed. Is repairable)
3) Leaking Oil! (If the enging was never torn apart, most likely u will have to because all the rubber seals around the oil pump , camshaft, & in the oil pan r going to become soft & leak.
4) Molestation (If some hack has worked on the car u want to watch out for their repair jobs. The previous owner of my 924 messed up the wiring & caused the wires to melt, luckily the car did not catch on fire).
5) Bad rear shocks (buy Koni)
Parts for the 924 r quite cheap, seeing as most r Audi or VW. The website l bought all my gaskets, hoses, & other parts was autohausaz.com. If u spend over $50 the shipping is free!

Remember, u r thinking about buying a 29 year old car, so there r bound to be problems with it. It is a good car & u will like it when u hit the gas around a corner.
