Has anyone heard and know anything about Victory motor cars in Houston, Texas? Are they reputable? Are there any independent, reliable mechanics that will do a prepurchase inspection and give an honest overlook on a car in the Houston area? this will be my first 911 and l dont wanna get sc#U$. l want this to be a good experience and a reliable every day car. l am looking for a 80 is 911 porsche (1981-89) prefer turbo look or slant body. Could anyone please help with your expertise. thank you in advance

Frank,

Try these links:

At the above site there is a TexMex forum, primarily made up of Houston area P-car owners. There is also a buyers forum. We have just helped a buyer from Alabama purchase a 911 with a PP l done by my Mech. You can also do a search for Victory Motors & see the + & -. l will not say either way as I've not delt with them. If u sign up & post, u can send me an e-mail.

Also check:

This is our local chapter of Porsche Club of America.

Good luck.

Frank,

Contact me by email & l will send u some info, including a copy of last year is value survey from Excellence Magazine (the last time they did a used 911 value update).

Victory does a lot of eBay selling & has good feedback. Still, l wonder about them.

l agree with the suggestion that u join PCA. It is best to buy from an enthusiast. You will find used car ads in both the local newsletters & the PCA magazine (print & online), including my 1980 911SC that is for sale. Do not know why u limited ur years to beginning in 1981. Both SCs (78-83) & Carreras (83-89) r good cars to consider. Do not buy an SC that has not had the Carrera oiler update.

Turbo look is a good idea. Slant nose is not. This is personal opinion, but is shared by the great majority of 911 owners who r not NFL football players.

Good luck.
