In 1953 Porsche produced the 356 & the 550 Spyder. The 550 Spyder would most likely have not come from the factory with a radio, so the car in question is probably a 356.

Tracking down a vintage radio for a car like this is a task that most likely cannot be accomplished by searching stores. Porsche dismantlers may have something like this on occassion (partsheaven.com), but this is the kind of item that is stocked by people that restore cars like this, or a few individuals that specialize in reselling rare & vintage parts.

Your local PCA or the 356 Registry would be good starting points, & any of the major swap meets that happen might also turn up an item like this.

Porsche 356

And there was a roadster around that time called the Porsche 550 Spyder.

The 550 is infamously known as the car actor James Dean was driving when he was tragically killed in an accident.

1.
Pre-A 356:
They made several versions of the Pre-A 356. There was the standard Coupe, the Convertible, the Speedster, & the Carrera which had the 4 Cam Engine.

550 Spyder, which is the open cockpit car that James Dean made famous.

A friend is selling his 1954 Pre-A 356 Speedster, r u interested, only $160,000 US Dollars? White with Tan Top & Interior.

2. The early german cars with radios r the Early Single DIN Standard which is sometimes refered to as the VW Standard in the Radio Biz. Try this link for ur vehicle radio. http://oldautoradio.com/NWindexDin.php?LL=0&brand=PORSCHE&year=60 or http://oldtimerradio.com/
