I am torn between between the hardtop model and the cabriolet.l like the way the cabriolet looks, and l might enjoy the drop-top, but the hardtop is faster.l would like some opinions.What do you think would be a better choice?(please do not respond withlike ''buy a hybrid instead and help the environment'').

Also (any Porsche owners), how important is mileage with buying a used 911?Is it better to buy low miles (40K or less)?

If you plan on driving it hard (as a Porsche is meant to be), you will probably be happier with the hard top.

Hard tops weigh less, have stiffer chassis (handle better), have far less maintenance costs, are generally safer in accidents, and are quieter. On the other hand, you can not cruise around with the top down.

In the end, you will have to decide what is more important to *you*.

Well, if you live in a warm place, buy the convertible, and if in a cold place, buy the hardtop. And btw, why does a little slower car even matter when it is illegal to drive over the speed limit. If you like the soft top better, get it. You will not notice the miniscule performance change if you are a safe driver.

l do not have one myself, but a close friend does. it is a 2000 convertible. i've driven (babysat) it while she was away on vacation and it is truly an amazing vehicle.

i do not think that mileage is THAT important, if the person that owned it prior to you took good care of it.

both are rockin' however l would chose the hardtop over the other since it is more durable - rag tops deteriorate faster.

With any car its better to look at 50k or less. If you want a fast car l would say go for a Corvette or New mustang Cobra Both are push 500HP and will tear up a porsche.i mean since you obviously want a fast car.

Depends on where u live & do u like cold wind. If u live in warm weather u would have the top down a large percentage of the time, then l say go for a Cab or Targa. But if u live is cooler weather & the top is going to be up most of the time, then go with the Coupe. l had a Targa 1991 911 or (964) & the noise, water leaks were not worth it. It was nice when the weather was good, about 1% of the time. l now have a Coupe (996tt) with a sun-roof & use it once in a while. It does not have the open feel like a Cab or a Targa, but it is worry free when it comes to water leaks.
