The 99 Boxster has 11:1 compression ratio.

I'd feed it only premium. You will get some detonation with low octane gase, avoid it!

Use premium 91 octane or higher , that is all they run on.

l have to run at least 91 in my 944 or it wo not run..

Premium gas only. That is what it says on the gas cap.

For other cars, l would have recommended that the type of gas depends on how u use it.

for cars that ''require'' 91 octane, but rarely if ever push thier performance envelope, u could get by with 85..but that means, no hard acceleration, no filling the trunks with gold bars & passing..

Anytime the compression ratio goes above 10.5 to 1 & its likely u will mash the gas pedal, u must keep the octane up.

Even though the ECM can now control the ''knocking/detonation'' u still need to consider how hard this is on the valves & heads.

Lastly. The only reason to use a lower octane, is because u r being cheap. lets face it..its not going to matter much anyway. Besides, u can look down on all those..85'ers & feel superior!
