definately the ferrari - the porsche has too much weight at the back due to the location of the engine. It may go quicker on drag strip but start putting corners in and the porsche will start losing out.

Road and Track did a comparsion test a few months ago and the F430 beat the 911 turbo. Now there are upgraded versions the Ferrari F430 Scudaria and the Porsche GT2, l do not know who will win that one..

This test has been done by a number of ''experts notably from Road & Track magazine as well as others. Most agree that the 911 is a better setup than the 430 for most of the road-racing tracks around Europe & the US.

Road racing tracks like Watkins-Glen & Le-mans r different that oval & semi-oval tracks like those in CART & Indy racing. For those, You might give it to the F430, but Id be hard pressed to judge. Id like to see it first..

Still, Id like to own an F430. l have the Porsche but have never owned a Ferrari.

good luck

just like Jeremy Clarkson said on Top Gear..you do not put the horse in the back of a carriage referring to the engine in the back.

Porsche is stupid when it comes to where the engine should be placed..either mid-engine or front engine

the Ferrari would own the 911 turbo since it is mid engine and AWD

ferrari f430 all the way. it is mid-engined and lighter. steers faster and accelerates faster. even looks better.

A Porsche would win, but it would be close.

ferrari f430 for sure

better balance, awd, more power and a lower center of gravity with more downforce to keep it planted

but if it was the scudera and the gt3 idk

wow a lot of bs laymens terms style . the bottom line is that the porsche has become too complicated for its own good, hence the need for a gt2 rwd turbo 911. the ferrari will handle better and only in the wet will a 911 turbo prevail. a scuderia 430 and a gt2 would be a great race but hangin that engine out back will get dicey at the limit........

the new 911 turbo has a new AWD system that doesnt allow any form of over or under steer until forced like hell the so rear engine actually helps at this point because it gives more grip & grip with an extreme AWD system give pure handling & then the turbo is faster accelarates faster two has better handling but the f430 is more fun but the turbo looks tons better & is tons more reliable than any ferrari & the ferrari cant go up multi floor car parks & has problems at speed humps but it really depends on ur taste
personally id have the 911

you idiots the ferrari is RWD u dumbasses im a dumbass & l know this

Some good guesses here, but alot of misinformation, which l am guessing is largely due to most responders having little to no direct experience with either of these cars or with driving at race tracks.

Both of these cars will be capable at the track, though in stock form both will have issues like understeer (yes, the AWD 911 Turbo has quite a bit of understeer, & will still snap to oversteer like any 911. this is not at all changed by AWD & is strictly about balance & weight transfer). The 911 does not have the balance of the Ferrari, but as someone that has driven many 911s at race tracks (probably my preferred car for such), l do not think the weight distribution alone is a problem (it makes it much easier to induce oversteer to help counteract the previously mentioned understeer).

When it is all said & done though, the F430 is a lighter car, & one with a better balanced & more rigid chasis. I'd expect it to enjoy a healthy 2 second or more advantage around most tracks (and which is what I've generally seen at most Open Track events).

EDIT - Regarding Nordschleife lap times. Ferrari has never gone to Nurburgring to test their cars, as a result, all recorded laptimes r not by Ferrari drivers (etc etc). And looking over the recorded F430 times, they r barely better than some recorded F360 times. The Porsche Turbo has recorded times with Walter Rohlr behind the wheel, & the Nissan times were (as have all of Nissan is runs at the 'Ring) somewhat suspect, with other professional drivers falling well short of what Nissan achieved (at the very least, Nissan was using non-stock tires in their runs). The GT3RS would be much faster than the regular F430 & certainly much faster than the 911 Turbo as well.

Robin Reliant... google it.

A fine fine piece of automobile engineering indeed

the ferrari is rwd!

i think the porsche turbo.

the nissan gt-r is just about around the porsche turbo on the nurburgring, infact it might be a lil better. and the nissan is faster around that track against the ferrari f430.

the porsche turbo> ferrari f430 as far as track times.

and the gt3 rs kills the ferrari f430.

but man the ferrari looks good.

Ferrari F430 better styling, faster, less maintenance because the turbo on Porsche causes trouble more than normally aspirated engines, porsche gets better mileage and Ferrari costs more, but you get a lot more from it.

Look what happened to all the porsche 911s, they are falling apart and cost nothing. look up ''porsche challenge top gear''
and watch it. As Jeremy says, ''The engine is in the wrong place.''

ferrari.

Both very good cars. Porsches vey light so it can make it go faster but the truth is, the Ferrari F430 is the best. It has great looks and speed.
If you want to be amazed, buy the Porsche. But if you want to be stunned. Go for the Ferrari F430.
l would rather Have a DB9,Gallardo or a Zonda.

911GT2 would destroy a F430, and at about half the price a 911GT3 would do the same.
Maxim     Reply with quote
between the two, the F430 but if it was those two vs the Corvette Z06 or the new Corvette ZR1... l would put my money on the Corvette's! besides, the current Z06 is already faster and better than both of those two cars!
