l have got a 1983 Porsche 944 2.5 Lux that has been stored under a cover since September '07. l have recently tried to get it going again but it wo not start. l suspect the fuel pump relay is not working as the relay controls the fuel pump itself and l can not smell petrol when it is cranking. Am l right? l have tested the relay and it is not opening and closing like it should. help!!

to solve the prob u take the dash out and cut all the leeds then pop the bonet ( hood ) then take off the break booster

When owning a Porsche one must be a fully trained mechanic or have a friend that is.
They are a mechanical nightmare and breakdowns are a part of being a Porsche owner.

make sure the battery is fully charged.. if you did not put in fuel stabilizer you could have issues with the fuel varnishing.

you as an '80s porsche owner you should have a spare DME relay, the fuel pump relay and fuse should probably be checked too. the oldschool relays are notorious for going out and l have extra in my toolbox just because they do so that often, if you wanna get fancy you can upgrade to a newer style relay thats a bit quicker that wont go out as often.
