Hi l have a porsche boxster and ever since going through some water and sitting in traffic there seems to be a problem? if l have been driving for a bit and l stop at the lights it begins to judder and unless l do not put some gas on it stalls and cuts out and wont start for a bit after wards. unless l pump the gas pedal then it decides to fire up and the right side vent smells of burning and is hot the left side vent it fine? l took it in to check the diagnostics on it and everything is fine nothing is coming up wrong l am baffled and so are the technicians! any porsche owners out there wanna shed some light?
anyone else other than mini owners bless them all on there little mini adventures! and learn to spell porsche first!!!!

l think l would start disconnecting connectors & looking for moisture inside them. Sounds like water is causing a high resistance in some circuit. How deep was the water?
And to the other person who seems a bit jealous: What l am amazed of is the fact that the A$$-Hole is who badmouth Porsche is r even on this forum category. l can only say that it must be plain jealousy, or they r just Hell bent on creating a waste of Zeros & Ones. Maybe needs to have a new category & name it ''Dumb-A$$ remarks for A$$-Holes''. Yeah, that would work, & they could take turns wasting their own time instead of ours who have a real interest or knowledge of a particular category.
l second ur comment on hoping they have fun in their little bitty box.
l would say that a Porsche has handling capability & a Mini Cooper has some agility.
Definitions:
Handling: Ability to navigate a series of corners with a high degree of accuracy with grace & speed.
Agility: The ability to make quick turns in a shopping cart.
So what happened to the negative comment that started the Mini comment? Someone deleted their answer & chickened out. l believe Heidi is Mummy had the negative comment, deleted & then added another comment after my comment. What is up with that??? Heidi is Mummy, u ever touched a Porsche, let alone drive one. l have driven a Mini & they do not drive any better than the Mini of the '60's.

First to the problem. how is ur AC working? l seem to recall a few instances where I've heard of blockage or problems with the compresser causing problems exactly as u describe on 2.5L Boxsters. If ur AC is blowing warm or hot air, it may be this.
The next most likely culprit would be the MAF. This will normally kick out some error codes for diagnosis, but this will often show problems for a time before it winds up kicking out the errors codes.
l have a hard time thinking this would be related to ur driving through water, as it would have to have been some VERY deep water to start causing problems like this, & if it was that deep, you'd be having other issues related to having flooded the car. It is more likely that it was just coincidence.
Now, all of the other comments! One person set on bashing Porsches because they like their Mini & another set on bashing the Mini in response. Both r great cars. I've tracked more than a few examples of these, & they both have many excellent points (as do many other cars). & yes, Porsches do handle well, but if u think Minis r somehow lacking here, it just shows you've never driven one or driven on at the limit.

l have the exact same problem with my Mazda, which l drove through a deep puddle when it was raining hard.
You need to get the idle speed of the engine raised. This is done through the car is ECU computer. When the idle speed is low, it is the same as a person is heart rate being very low.
The car could turn off from using the brakes & steering because those use the engine is power to work.
l would just get the idle speed raised by 100-200 rpm.

driving though water should never create engine problems unless the level of water covers the motor. your side vents carry air from the front so any burning smell should not be from the engine. the problem sounds electrical and should be easy to diagnose with a simple diagnostic test
