l was thinkin about getting one. Preferably the turbo and l was just wondering what the problems are with them most commonly and if they are good reliable cars for a 17 year old

no they're not reliable. any car that is 20 yrs old is not reliable. Plus the parts cost a fortune. Maybe if you have another car and the 944 is going to be for weekends and stuff, then l guess u could get it. but if it is gonna be your everyday car, then l would not recommend it unless u have tons of money to spend on it.

They are very reliable normally, however if the milege is over 150k you might want to check if the turbo has ever been replaced, otherwise you should spend a couple hundred dollars to replace it.

They are good cars. But expect it to have lots of problems since it is an old car.

My family, as in my dad & l own 3 of them '86 944 that is, non turbos.

they r awesome, l love them, l would not recommend them to a 17 year old, unless he is a very, very good driver, & no matter what u say, at only 17 he is probably not.

as for repairs/maintenance/parts they r a bit of a pain (every drop of sweat is worth it though) right now only one of them is drivable. & things go wrong with it every now & then. for example for a few weeks now the windshield wipers stopped working :(

they r good cars for the race track, not to much kick, but just enough to get ur hart pumping fast.

i can talk on & on about this car!
my advice: get it, give ur current car to ur son, when he is old enough to appreciate this car swap :)
