l was thinking about getting the Porsche Cayman, but I've heard time and time again from family and other older people that it is not an everyday type of car.What gives it this reputation?Is it that it is in the shop alot, can not handle the stress of a 4-5 day week during the summer, or something else?

sure it is. any car is really. If you got the money why not.

my dad drives a porsche carrera 4s, which is a similar vehicle, and he drives it every day. also, my neighbor has a cayman which he uses on a daily basis.

Sorry, l do not know about what a car can handle. It looks pretty cute to me, but it looks like is not for driving long distances.

It is a very reliable car & u can drive it every day & be confident that it will work at 200,000 miles. Those Porsche engines r made to be very durable at high speeds where they could travel over 150mph for long periods of time with no overheating.

They say it is not an everyday car because it is a sports car with only 2 seats & RWD.

RWD means slippery in rain & impossible to drive in snow.
2 seats means no practicality.

But it is very comfortable, has many features, & has 2 trunks with lots of space. l would use it as an everyday car & have a 2nd car with more seats for when l go out with friends or family.

yeah they are an everyday car they are made to go long distances at a high speed but they are not really reliable in the snow, sleet, rain. but they are good cars but make sure there is a dealeir near you because just in case something goes wrong you want to be able to take it to a shop without having to take it like 200 miles away.

the problem is the other drivers..why would you subject a fine automobile like the Cayman to parking dings, gas station drivers, and daily weather. you need a daily ride at least for the foul weather.

A Porsche is a nice car & it gets that reputation because it is expensive. When people think daily driver (DD) they think cheap not only cheap to buy but cheap to service & fix. Your Porsche there is neither of those a oil change costs about 100 dollars alone. But could it handle the 4-5 days of being used as a DD, yes & probably better than nearly every other car out there. Porsches r German they r designed with the Autobahn in mind so u know they r a good car. The 2 seats & the RWD make it less of a daily driver depending on ur situation & where u live. l would say if its the car u like & want then go for it they do look badass on the road.

porsche cayman is a great car. great handling. good balance. reliable engine. they say its better than the 911 in handling.
but its not a car you can drive everyday. unless your rich. its maintenance would really cost you. read the review on topgear.com.

It is a hard top Boxter, it is a Porsche, yes, any Porsche is made to be an everyday car. Porsche is are about the best cars made. l can see that older people might not enjoy the idea of the car, rather hard to get into as it is a low car. And it certainly is not a family car, it only seats 2 people, and not a lot of luggage space. No Porsche spends a lot of time in the shop. You are paying for something, an extremely well made car

porsche did a really good job with this car. if you live in a warm place year round it might be able to handle everyday driving. If your looking fort an everyday sporty car look at the amg is by mercedes. they are really powerful and can handle every day driving
