l currently own a 2008 Porsche cayman s and was wondering if l should put straight pipes on it.And what would it sound like, where should l get the straight pipes, and could l put them on myself b/c l know it is very hard to modify a porsche is inards.Thank you

Straight pipes are illegal for road use. Only legal on race tracks because of noise and pollution.

Straight pipes mean no Muffler or catylitic conveters.

Basically it would sound the same, but at a much higher volume, like a race car.

You would need to know how to weld to put it on yourself and you need something to lift the car with. It is a 2 person job.

It would sound good fo a short while until you grow to hate the sound level. l like performance and l like a louder exhaust tone, but open pipes will drive you nuts! Go with an after market exhaust system with mufflers.

Do not go with straight pipes, you will hear a nasty droning sound while cruising, and the cops will be on a first name basis with you.
Here is the formula for this situation: porsche+loud exhaust=many cop interactions.
You could cut off the mufflers, and put on some Hooker exhaust tips with resonaters, they basically eliminate drone, but you can still hear the engine growl.

It will sound like crap. The other poster that mentioned the drone is exactly right. Just get a Borla or Tubi. They're designed to be loud in the low and high rpms, and softer in the cruising range (2-3k in the Cayman/S).
