l wanted to know which car has a smoother drive and which car is better quality overall?

the 135i is a bargain basement BMW but that is still better than an over-glorified volkswagen

Porsche Cayman S is more similar in performance to the BMW 135i.

The smoother ride should be the BMW since the Cayman is more sports car oriented.

u really can not compare these two.

the bmw 1 series is a small little town car that is meant to be good on gas & drive like any bmw should.

the cayman is nothing like a bmw 1 series. in fact, porsche does not make anything that competes with the bmw 1 series.

the cayman is a sports car. drivers have said that it is so good, it actually might dethrone its older brother, the 911.

They're completely different classes of cars, but the Cayman S would toast the BMW 135i. I'd also suggest holding off, as the new updated Caymans r coming.

To the idiot who called the Cayman an over-glorified VW.the Cayman has NO VW components, not even a platform. The only current Porsche that shares a platform with any VW/Audi model is the Cayenne. That platform is a Porsche platform, NOT a VW platform, the Cayennes were out first. Then the Toureq & then the Audi Q7. Ferdinand Porsche was the founder of VW, & then started working on the Porsche brand. While the early Porsches did share a lot of VW components, they were NOT the same cars. Porsche & VW were no longer the ''same'' company after WWII. Ferdinand Porsche was given a choice by the allies, either give up VW or face war crimes (long story, which l am not going to get into here). After that, Audi purchased VW. In just the last couple of years Porsche purchased about 30% of VW, & they recently submitted a proposal to purchase 85% of VW. This does not make them the ''same'' company however. So, learn a thing or two about a car company before u bash them, so u do not make an idiot out of yourself. Oh, & by the way, Porsche has celebrated over 23,000 victories world wide in their little over 50 year existence in wide variety of racing types. Not bad for ''over-glorified VWs.''
