Hey... l was just looking at some LS1 swapped Porsche 944 is and it hit me that many of the cars that are LS1 swapped are also capable of 2JZ swaps. Is it possible to throw a 2JZGTE in a Porsche 944? Has anyone ever done this before? Do you think it would be easy?
What transmission would l use, the R154, V160, or the Getrag?
Will the 944 be able to support 800rwhp?
Thanks! How is it not worth it? It may not be worth it to you but it is for me because l love the look of the 944 and I am a big fan boy of the 2JZ's... It is the perfect swap in my opinion. So...how would l go about doing such a thing? Hmm, l think it would be pretty sick... People mix the 2JZ with American cars... l need some elaboration on these . You're just stating opinions, l need help and facts. l mean, people do LS1 swaps into the 944... What is the difference... Well, l would be using either the R154, V160, or Getrag transmission. All can handle a lot of power...l mean a lot.

Sure, it is possible.
Worth it? No.
Easy? No.
Interesting? No.
800 horsepower? Who cares. Horsepower is a made up number. It is just torque multiplied, then divided. You could multiply torque by 15, and call it monkey power, still just a made up number of imaginary units.
Edit: How is this an opinion? I've done several engine swaps, and can tell you hands down, that this would not be worth the time or effort.

Here is a hint: do not mess with German engineering with Asian. It just does not make sense. The Germans know what they are doing, so do the Asians. However combining the two is just wrong.

Possible? Sure. when it comes right down to it, given the resources (time & money & access to the right professionals), anything is possible when it comes to car upgrades. Is it practical? Most people will say it is not worth it due to the large amount of resources u will need compared to the likely return. And that engine swaps or other upgrades r generally not ends to themselves, but rather a means to reach a higher performance level or similar goal. On that front, there r much better means, including simply getting a different car that would be better suited.
The Toyota is a good engine, but it is not a common swap, so u will need to do (or have done for you) most of the engineering (including how to use either the existing transmission or to swap that as well). The cost of design & custom fabrication will exceed the maximum possible value of the car many times over! The reason u r seeing ''it is not worth it'' response is that for most people, spending $20-30k to upgrade a car that at worth about $5k is not a great project (especially when u consider what u could do with that money on another project, & the fact that once you've gone about everything with the engine & transmission, u will have a car where the suspension & brakes r now also in need of upgrade, & a car that is probably worth less than a stock version since most people would avoid such a car due to the likely headaches that will result from all of the improvised engineering).
If u want to do such a thing, I'd check in with companies that due custom fab work for Porsches. Mostly raceshops like TRG, or anyone else that supports pro-racing series. but be ready for sticker shock when u hear the likely project cost after u supply them with all the needed parts.
As for how this is different than an LS1 swap: on one hand it isn't. The issues of a swap r still basically the same, the difference is that with an LS1, someone else has already done the engineering & there r a few companies that fabricate the custom parts needed for this. though this still does not address the fact that the LS1 has a higher center of balance than the inline 4 normally used in the 944, though the negitive effect on handling is fairly minor in the one example I've directly observed (and u will likely have the same issue with the Toyota given it is configuration).
As for 800hp? If that is a peak figure with very low torque, then the 944 transmission could probably handle it as the issue usually tends to be here, not at speed. If u r building to produce lots of low end torque, then u will need a different transmission, which will also likely mean re-engineering the entire back end of the 944, though u can then use whatever transmission u happen to want (similar to older 911s or 914s with 901 transmissions handling 400+hp engines. it can work, but there r limitations & the stock transmission is not the best solution as u climb higher in power).

The 944 transmission will be unable to handle the HP or probably torque. Visit Rennlist for better or more informed .

Rename this post to ''Porsche Butch Job'' seems very fitting.

Anyone who mixes Asian or American engines with German car should be strung up by their balls. They do not deserve to own a Porsche or any German car for that matter. Christ almighty.
