l have a 1984 Porsche 944 that has a broken parking brake handle. The parking brake works fine, but the handle will not say up. l recently bought a parking brake handle from a 1987 944, and was wondering if it is interchangeable? l also need to learn how to change the handle out. Does this require removing my seat? Thanks!

l do not think it will fit because in 1985 Porsche changed the whole interior. You'd be better off looking for a used 924 parking brake handle because everything in the 924 is exactly the same as a 944 from '83 to '85. It should be pretty cheap, like $10 or so.
If u r going to change the handle, to just make it easier, the best thing to do is to remove the seat so u can get to the bolts easier. There r also a spring to keep tension. Should be easy to get out. ( l have a 924 & removed the seats, removed the carpet.) It is very simple to remove the seat if it is not powered. There r four bolts (should be a size 11, 14 mm?), two on each track with one all the way at the front & one all the way at the back. Be very careful pulling the seat out as to not scratch the paint ! Good luck & have fun with ur 944!
