they still carry a high rate because of what they are,mainly because it would take a lot to replace one if it got stolen ,but there are higher cars on the market now that do cost more to insure,some of the Honda,s are really expensive to insure also,there is more of those stolen each day than porsche,s in a year,right now there the number one car to steal,and part out,good luck with this.

No. Porsches as a rule r not to bad to insure.

1. Most r driven by married men over 40, which translates into lower accident rates than something like a civic si.

2. Aside from the higher dollar models (Gt-3, Turbo), they r fairly straight forward to repair; not alot of aluminum, relatively easy access to parts as they make quite a few.

3. They r safe in a collision. Again, not alot of aluminum, great abs brakes, traction control, airbags up ur butt, etc.

4. They do not get stolen. Not a big market for Stolen Porsche parts, engines, etc.therefore they r not boosted very often.

Now u want expensive..be under 40 & drive a Honda S2000. Thats expensive to insure.

i drove an '88 924, and l paid $250/mo for liability on that sucker. did not help l was 16 years old either lol

had to get rid of it cuz it was too expensive to fix, and just an overall hastle

l got a quote from my insurance company and my current car (subaru outback) is $260 a month where as the 1989 Porsche 944 S2 l was looking at was going to be $250 a month.
