Check out forums.rennlist.com & renntech.org, these r two of the largest & best forums out there in my opinion.

For Boxsters & Carreras the most common problem u will read about is the rear main seal (RMS). There r no real stats to say how often it occurs but it occurs often enough to be widely known. Not a big deal, u can wait to fix it when u change the clutch unless a constant drip of oil on ur garage floor bothers u a lot. GT2s, GT3s & Turbos have a different enginee altogether & do not have this problem.

You may also read about coolant tank problems. l forget the model years but early ones were made of plastic that became brittle with heat & age & were prone to cracking. Expensive part easy to replace.

There r no other major issues but each model has its peculiar, minor idiosyncracies. You need to read the forums & ask questions.

check with the folks at the PCA (porsche club of a america) there are local chapters all over the place and the web site (pca .com l think) can get you info on who and where. Lucky for me the chapter head and tech expert for my chapter live on the next block!
