Automatic engines do have different model and serial numbers than manual engines. However, either will do as long as you have everything to fit the automatic car.

Check out forums.rennlist.com if you're a 944 owner. For $18, you can be a member for a year and have full access to the classifieds. Many people are out there parting wrecked cars, someone is bound to have an engine for you.

Check ebay as they always have used transmissions for sale for the 944. If you meant a used engine then you can try ebay for that as well.
