Sadly the 924 is something of the ''Forgotten Porsche'' so parts and support are a bit harder to come across. It was an Audi/Porsche project that really did not do very well.

You may find some of what you're looking for on autoatlanta.com

the 924s were not all that fast. There was a 924 Carrera GT, which was a bit of a beast, but those are rare and hard to find.

If you want a fast 4 cyl porsche, get a 944 turbo (aka the 951). Theyre easy to mod, and fast.

but be warned. They may be cheap to buy, but no porsche will be cheap to maintain.

and doing a motor swap into a porsche generally isnt the best of ideas. Its usually very expensive and will generally ruin the handling.

The first thing u may want to do is to ask yourself just how u want to go faster. I've spent along time instructing at Porsche Club track events, & the answer to ''how do l go faster'' almost never winds up being ''more power'' or ''bigger engine.'' But first, just to ur question.

An engine from a 924S, 931, 944, or 951 would probably be at least somewhat straightforward as a swap into an early 924. There r also SBC conversion kits around. And unlike 911 (where the SBC is center of gravity sits much higher than the flat 6), this retains a somewhat similar balance in the car. But the problem u will face with any of these is 1) adding alot more power to the chasis will mean u need to upgrade the suspension, brakes, etc, to keep a good performance balance, 2) the cost of the engine alone is likely to exceed the value of the car by a long shot, & it will not really increase the car is value; u have to be willing to spend quite a lot & not get any measure of the money back if u sell the car.

If u really want something with more power, u will find it much more economical & ultimately alot more succesful in the results to simply sell the 924 as is & get a different car.

Now, back to the first part. if ur goal is just to be faster, the 924 is a good car to learn with since it is lack of power will force u as a driver to learn to maintain momemtum. l beleive the 924 used CIS injection (the 924S might've been DME). there r some references on tuning CIS, & in conjuntion with a more open exhaust u might free up a little bit of power at the expense of needing to use premium gas. Though in terms of actual speed, u will get more bang for u dollar at looking at performance tires. Will affect every aspect of the car is performance.

After that, maybe some ARBs from a 951? Can often be found having been taken off for after market upgrades & would provide better exit speed from corners. And, of course, if u want a better power to weight ration, u can probably achieve more by getting rid of weight than going the route of increasing power.

l like the 924 S

If l had a 924 l would find a 931 Turbo or a 932 the heads & cam change would be the best performance changes but r not cheap.

Best over all thing would be to Fix the 924 Up & sell it. And Buy a 944 Turbo.. Or 928S or S4

Or u can do like my friend did & swap in a LS2 & a 6spd. He runs 10.25 all day at the track with no up grades on the engine yet. He got his from Rolled over cop car.

Great Idea is just need the pocket to go with them..
