love the car hate the noisy, rubberband thin tires it came with . looking for advise on the fit of 45 is or ? on 18'' wheels . probably 295 on the rears and 245/255 on the fronts . but l want as much rubber between the wheel and the road as possible. thanks for any input

Tire Rack can provide you with wheel and tire options. The limitation on how small a wheel you can go with (more rubber). There is very little or no space to put larger diameter tires than stock on your car.

Actually, wide tires tend to make more noise. The compound and sidewall and tread and a buncha other things are much bigger contributer.

If you want quiet tires, just get less sporty ones.

And 295s will fit with the proper offset and such.

l hate thin tires myself, l think 295 on the rear might be too big though

18'' would be maximum, l agree and the higher the sidewall the better the car will ride.

You will want 265 is in the rear. The early 996 is came with 285 is and then switched to 265's. The size and combination of tire width is will cause your car to push or pull under acceleration in cornering. If you are going for looks, the 285 huges over the rim just a bit and is better looking but the 265 is perform better.

We are assuming you're talking about the stock 18's.
