930 actually being the ''type number'' for the pre-964 generation 911 Turbo produced between 1975 and 1989. It was Porsche is top-of-the-range model for its entire production duration and at the time of its introduction the fastest production car available in Germany.

The 930 was the code Porsche used to designate the Turbo model. If the car is a 930, then its a pre-964 Generation Turbo.

Now for the SC. SC stands for Super Carrera. When porsche made the SC, it was going through a finanical slump, & called the regular carrera as such to draw customers in with a fancy name.

No, 930 is were made from '75 to '89.

The difference between the two is this.
1982 Porsche 911 SC:
204HP, top speed of 146, 0-60 in 5.7
1982 Porsche 930 Turbo:
300HP, top speed of 162, 0-60 in 5.1
