How much does it cost in general to have a 60,000 mile service on a Boxster (98)

The car is running great, although the ''check engine light'' just went on.Also, are authorized dealers generally much more expensive than independent Porsche mechanics (l have heard to stay away from authorized dealers?.First Porsche, virtually no knowledge with cars, much less Porsche's.Thanks.

It depends on if it is an Automatic or manual transmission and it depends on the area you live in.
If Automatic, it should cost around $350-400.
If Manual, it should cost around $300-350.

l just had my 30,000 mile sevrice on my 1999 Porsche Boxster they had to replace a few things but the whole service cost about $3,900. My other service cost a little over $ 1,900. Any more question email me.
