Take it to a nechanic, because it probably uses the older style freon - and it is expesive. Additionally, if it is leaking they may need to repair it and update it with a new system beforethey release it to you - based upon local and state laws. It could be expensive.

If you do not know how, do not try. You can literally kill yourself trying to charge A/C if you do not know what you are doing.

Also that car is equipped with R-12 freon which will require a license to buy. Your best bet is going to be to take it to a shop. l would additional recommend it go to a Porsche Dealership as well.

This is one car where l recommend you do not try to fix the AC.it is not very good and it gets in the way of just about every service procedure.

l own a Porsche so l know what to do. When you own a porsche its no fun or games when fixing something. Directly go to a Porsche Cerfied yes only certified dealership and get it exchange with the new A/C systems or wait a long time for a 1979 porsche made part to be brought form germany.

Agreed- leave the charging to a professional- this is not only harmful to the evnironment if you leak freon but also a tricky art which is probably not worth the headache, time consumption, frustration or the $125 - $175 in savings.
