just a suggestion, the early 944 is are low priced and you'd probably be happier with it.

l know several ''good deals'' on 924 is but personaly l do not like any 924 .
l have a 1983 944 non turbo for sale. priced at about 2500. l feel the best bang for ur buck is a 944s or turbo.
The 944s is a consistant winner in class at pro solo autocross events. Is also a very reliable car when services r done properly.
If u do not know what u r looking at l would NEVER buy a cheep porsche!
As l promise repairs will add up to more than cars value.
Just buy a well serviced car that has been inspected by a Porsche tech & u will be fine.

l have an '84 944. They're better than the 924's, but any old porsche u get is gonna be maintence. I've dumped over $5,000 in repairs only on that car. Unless u know alot about fixing cars up, l would not recommend getting one. But if you're really set on getting one, try local listings in ur area first. You can also go to Carsoup (that is where l got my 944 for $3200 only 75,000miles). Check out a website like 924.org & go to 924 discussion. There r forms u can look at. one is titled cars & parts wanted/for sale. You've got a good bet finding one there for around $1500-3000. Hope that helps

Here is a little secret.look for a 1986-87 version called the 924S

It WAS a 944 in 924 clothing, and all the upgrades the earlier 924 is did not have. It even had a higher top speed than the 924 because of less aero drag.
