Hi all,

Since l saw Risky Buisness back in the day, the 928 has had a special place in my heart. Now that l have an opportunity to buy one, what kind of experiences have you had with them? Also, is there weaknesses that l should look at regarding maintainence? Thanks much!

The 928 was very under rated by the majority of Porsche enthusiasts as compared to the 911, etc. They started in 1977 & ended production for the USA in 1995, with the later model years seeing significant improvements in performance & some features. They were very expensive & Porsche parts/labor can be a problem for the not so well heeled. The timing belt is the most critical issue in my opinion & should be changed before factory recommendations (age considerations), so as to avoid cracking leading to breakage. Fluids, belts, hoses, & wear-ables r somewhat comparable to other vehicles.

There r several Porsche forums on the web which many folks contribute their experiences & advice & l would advise getting on several of them for several months so that u get an idea of what folks have gone through, parts sources, & shops which can repair things. If u get serious, get the maintenance history & have it inspected by a Porsche professional. It is German & can be obnoxiously more complicated when compared to other lesser quality sports cars. If taken care of the quality will shine through.
