basic info at kbb.com. Then the collect-

3 cents a pound at the scrap yard.

Could just cost about half grand for such junk. And also it eats lots of gas.

My real advice is going to sound tough, but it is the same advice everybody gave me, & l ignored. It is not worth it to buy a 944 unless it is a turbo (sometimes called the 951) or the 16V engine (called the 944S or 944S2). You can get a regular 944 for a few thousand, but it has a weak(by today is standards) 150HP 2.5L four cylinder. It is next to impossible to get real performance improvements out of this engine, unless u spend thousands more. By the time u do all that, u still wo not have the performance of a turbo or the S. And for what u spent on the car, plus upgrades, u could have gotten the turbo. And that already has the bigger brakes, better suspension, ABS & the better body kit.

That being said, if it is an '84, my guess is the front seats r trashed, the dash is cracked, & it needs engine work. All of these things r not cheap to fix. If the paint looks cracked (like spider webs) expect to pay a lot to fix it up. As in thousands to sand down to bare metal to fix. l would not give the guy $1500.

l am a member of Porsche 928 Online Club. May l sugest u check out a 944 club. l am sure they will inform u of what to look out for & where to discard the remains.
ABOUT 1,000 ...It could be more money than its worth
It is Old. l know it is Porsche ? But l would suggest looking at one in excellent condition & for a little more money. Even if it were a 928 . l would say save & purchase the 928s4. A lot more money but worth it ..Everything on a Porsche that is no longer in production can be expensive & harder t ofind

have to agree with previous 2 . l had a 924, that l picked up CHEAP. You'd have to get the 944 for next to nothing for it to be worth it by the time/$$$$ you'd put into it. Start looking around at prices. You will spent $750-800 for a new dash. You're also looking at $650-700 to redo the seats (with factory repalcements) If there is ANYTHING wrong w/fuel distributor or injection system, u might as well forget it..
You can probably find a decent 944 that runs that needs less work for around $3000+

Good luck.
